Growing as a Presenter

After being away for over 5 years from my local Toastmasters club, I have re-enrolled and have chosen to become active once again. What is amazing to me is how quickly our communication and speaking skills can deteriorate in such a short period of time. Toastmasters is a remarkable organization to train us in how to communicate quickly on our feet and to assume stronger leadership roles. This week I recently gave my first speech out of 10 in my advanced speakers manual and it was very surprising on how “jittery”  I felt just before my presentation. However like so many things in life, the best way to get through your fear is to tackle it head-on. My presentation went very well and I was rewarded with best presenter of the day. I’d love to hear your experiences with Toastmasters.

It is refreshing and inspiring to know that even someone who is a extraordinary gifted speake as you are gets the jitters. Not surprised you took home the prize of best speaker of the evening. Congratulations!

I too have enormous respect for Toastmaster. When I arrive nat the Pearly gates and God ask me to list the top 5 things I am most grateful for – Toastmasters will certainly be on that list.
